I’m seeking re-election to the council because the work of getting a contract from ABC and CBS is not yet done. And because as soon as it is done, it’s time to start planning for the next negotiations.  I’ve learned a lot in the two years since I was elected to the council.  I’d like to build on what I’ve learned and the connections I’ve made to make sure there’s better communication between the union and my colleagues at ABC news and at other news shops.  That includes making sure my co-workers have a better understanding of the state of labor relations within the entertainment industry.  It also includes working with freelance members of the council as they head into their negotiations on the MBA. I’ve watched Chris Albers, Warren Leight, Tom Fontana and others step forward and work to strengthen the WGA (east and west) ahead of those talks.  That work needs to continue, with closer ties between news writers and freelancers - and I’d like to help.
